A few days ago, my 396XT suddenly--and for no apparent reason--stopped tracking a local 700 MHz P25 trunked system with four sites. All four data channels disappeared. Meanwhile, all of my other scanners monitoring the same system (PSR500 and 996T) were tracking it fine. At the time, it was hooked up to the AC adapter. Finally, I disconnected and then reconnected the AC adapter and everything went back to normal. Has anyone else noticed this problem?

And I used to ***** about "Made in Japan" Japanese electronics are far superior than the Chinee crap . My 996T had to be sent back to Uniden after owning it for 3 weeks. My radio stops trunking every now and then. it seems like it is a weather related issue , it usually goes back to normal after a few days at most.

I've had it for nearly a year now, and that is the first time it has ever done anything like that.

Check out my somewhat lengthy post

http://forums.radioreference.com/un...rola-smartzone-trunking-system-goes-dead.html

Many people have reported problems with their uniden scanners loosing trunk. I think most of it is because operator error but not all. The problem may be do to how the firmware determines the data channel. If the system switches to a back up data channel the unit gets dum and doesn't follow. Wish I know how the firmware decides to look for another and switches

Mine used to do that, also on a nearby P25. The only way to fix it was to remove the power cord and plug it back in - turning it off and on had no effect. I updated the firmware from the factory original (circa April 2009) to the latest (1.08.14), and have not had the problem again so far.
