396xt troubles with OPP

i downloaded and installed the OPP system for the Toronto area as well as Peel trunking from here VIA ARCXT and get open mics after people stop talking and can here all id's bleeding thru, the only way to get rid of the open mic/birdie is to hit the scan button, This is a brand new scanner less then 3 weeks old and had this trouble from the get go, anyone else had this problem?

Check your "End Code" settings in the scanner.

Press/select: Menu > Program System > (select your OPP system) > Edit Sys Option > Set End Code > Select "Analog+Digital"

Also check for interference from electrical sources in the locations you are monitoring from. I had the same problem and found out that my computer mouse was causing me trouble when monitoring from home.
Low batteries caused it when I was outside.

also set the squelch up a few points, running it at threshold often causes that issue.

Yup that seems to be the fix!!!! many thanks, i would hate to have to return the unit back to Radio World for credit!
