Has anyone ever heard activity on this frequency before? I am receiving 2 or 3 bars on the 785 when the frequency is active in Sheboygan Co.

After listening longer, its clear the users are postal inspectors. I got a few unit numbers, ida6192, ida6157, ida5869 and ida4177. I'm still not sure where this signal is coming from.

It is postal inspectors. they also run encryption on that fraquency. When I hear them using encryption only one side of the conversations is encrypted. I guess they don't know how to press the button or flip the switch:lol:

Are you certain that it is encryption? If they are using a combined P-25 / analog system, that is one of the characteristics of such a system.

It sounds similar to Milwaukee's postal inspector frequency. The base is encrypted and the mobiles are usually clear. The signal may be coming from western Michigan. It sounded like a inspector said he would be 10-7 in "Cadillac".

It sounded pretty strong when I heard it in Racine.I heard activity on it for two days at different times. Was there possibly a band opening if the signal did not come from Milwaukee?I submitted the channel to the database. If I am wrong, please correct me.

I didn't think the signal was coming Milwaukee because, the postal inspectors were already using 409.9375, which has a much stronger signal.

Perhaps 406.3375 is the lower power local channel.

If the Monitoring Times Fed Files are correct, 406.3375 originates from the Chicago area.

That could be,I did notice the signal was stronger when I was in Kenosha. Also,I heard the inspector call "cadillac control"on the Milwaukee frequency. So maybe that is a callsign/code for dispatch?

I'm sure there are many local "nets" wireline linked into a control center for dispatching, etc. It's a common fed thing to do.

I also wouldn't be surprised if that channel wasn't down in Chitown on a tall building (Sears, Hancock etc)

If this freq is from chitown it has really good range. I can receive it up here in west bend with no problems, even if it on a tall building.
