Hello-
I have the first generation BCD436HP
My radio was built in 2014 with a low sequence serial number of 376 Z 4 8 002295.

376= Scanner Model
Z = Scanner
4 = Year ( 2014 )
8 = Vietnam Built
Sequential Production Build Number = 0 0 2 2 9 5.

Do you happen to know if any upgrades have been done to it?
If so, do you think it would be worth it to have it upgraded?

Thanks

Can you clarify what you are asking about? You used 2 different terms in your post.... updates (in your title) and upgrades.

As far as updates... that could mean updates to the firmware and database. Check page 16 of your owner's manual for step by step instructions for getting those free updates using the Sentinel software.

Available upgrades could mean the ability to monitor systems that use NXDN, DMR, or Provoice transmissions through paid upgrades purchased from Uniden. You would need to determine if those upgrades would be worth it to you, if you have any of those systems in your area that you want to monitor.... if you haven't already purchased those.

The only other thing would be the earlier repair campaign to fix the problem with the system clock needing to be constantly re-set. That repair campaign ended quite some time ago, so if you are experiencing that issue you would need to send your scanner to Uniden for the flat rate repair cost.

If it's the first generation then it still has that filter capacitor on the datasignal to surpress RFI in the 400MHz band. Second generation had that capacitor removed and third generation had the place to solder it removed completely. Did the fourth generation had that capacitor added again? And now it is the fifth generation where an obsolete IC have been replaced with another type.

The first generation might be the best one.

Thanks for getting back to me.
Sorry for the confusion in my earlier posts.
I had the clock fix done when they offered the repair long ago.I forgot what year that year was.
As far as the updates,I check them on a regular basis through the Sentinal Database.
I guess what I meant was since mine was built back in 2014, have their been any performance
improvements between 2014 and 2022.If so would it be worth sending it into Uniden to have them done?
what is the difference between the old ones and the new ones other than what you mentioned?
I am also looking to replace the rubber flap for the data port, mine has worn out and wont stay closed.

Thanks
