I have a Uniden Bearcat BC785D and using ProScan. My problem is when I set the com-port to com 1 (It a real com-port on the computer) and I hit the Auto-Detect button it sees the scanner on com 1, but when I try to control or download/upload it says Scanner Must Be Communicating. I’m running Windows 7 and the com-port works fine on my BCDx96XT scanners and using an Straight Through Serial Cable. Any help appreciated. See Pictures Below.

Try setting the port to None then click on Set then Auto Detect again.

Ok I set the com-port to None and click Set then click Auto-Detect button and it said com 1 Available.

Set it back to com-port 1 and click Set then click Auto-Detect button and it said BC785D but still nothing. Thanks

When it said "Available", did the scanner show up in the next column? If no then go to the Menu - System Options - PC Control and select 19200

No it did not but yes the scanner is set to 19200 under PC Control I have tried all setting under PC Control to the other speeds making sure ProScan to match the same speed. I have even set Windows 7 Device Manager under the Ports to match com 1 and the scanner and ProScan port speed, but still no luck. Lost in the Twilight Zone, thanks for all the help.

Don't use a null modem cable or adapter. Those are only needed with rear ports that doubles as a GPS port such as the BCD996P2 or other DMA models.

If the same "Straight Through serial cable" works with the BCD996XT rear port then it's not a straight cable and a null modem will work with that.

That's what I was thinking, he thought it was a straight thru cable...but it's actually not.
