Saw a couple of new licenses for these 2 frequencies in Westchester County.
Anybody know what they are used for??
The new call signs are WQHN967 and WQHN968
The new licenses refer to 2 other ones KEH624 & WIJ706

Again, just wondering what they are used for.

Thanks

Thanks, I saw that information. I was just wondering if anybody has heard anything on these channels? From what the license says, there are transmitters all over Westchester County and into NYC. Are these channels used for highway plow trucks or tow trucks or maybe something else.
I am in CT on the Westchester border and I can not pick up Westchester that well.

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks

According to the Westchester County Government website (http://www.westchestergov.com), the Department of Transportation runs the Beeline Buses, Beeline ParaTransit(for the disabled), Smart Commute and the County Airport. Road maintenance and plowing is handled by the Department of Public Works.

I know that the Beeline Buses are using the new trunked system, maybe these freqs are used as a back up or for some other operation (Airport?)

Hope this helps,

Check the "date first used" info. If you're seeing a brand-new license, then there is unlikely to be any traffic on the system because it hasn't been built yet. Most radio systems have to be coordinated and licensed before construction can begin.

hearing westchester from ct.

I was wondering if you cant hear westchester from the border, then what antenna are you using?? Hopefully more than the includrd rubber duckie!! I am in long island and get both ct.and westchester with decent signal, especially when I am in west nassau county. Bordering towns like cos cob and greenwich/stamford should not prevent you from hearing westchester. Use a handheld antenna other than the stock one and use a quality mobile antenna or base if you dont scan in the car.

I am in Norwalk and travel to Stamford for work. My company just relocated from Greenwich to Stamford last month. I do have a good mobile antenna that picks up pretty well. I can not put up a base antenna due to a fairly good size hill behind my house.
I have started listening to the new Westchester Cnty trunked system and it sounds pretty good. Now back to the topic here, I have just put these frequencies in my scanner (396T) and will have to see what I can get. I am looking into some other antenna's also. As mentioned, I used to be in downtown Greenwich and used to listen to them all day at work. I grew up there and I am still involved with one of the Vol. Fire depts. there. My problem now is where I am now in Stamford I can not get ANYTHING on my scanner at work. Works fine when I go out to my car though! Well I am just waiting for the leaves to fall and just maybe I will be able to pick up something.
Thank you all for the information above.

These two freq's, according to the two licenses, have emission designators of 10K0F1D which to my understanding means it is FM with digital information telemetry or telecommand (remote control or data collection). So this looks like it is data transmission link for the BeeLine Buses and therefore probably would not be worth scanning.
