Anyone notice that 6-7000khz has been quiet lately in the evenings with some of the usual suspects missing?

I have not heard CRI English via Sackville on their usual 6020khz lately, nor Radio Exterior de España on 6055khz where they were for months now. Haven't heard Radio Romania lately, nor even Bulgaria on 6100khz. Haven't heard NHK (Japan) English either (not sure of usual freq but it was relayed via Sackville I believe).

Last night I caught BBC WS for Africa in English until 0700 utc but then they signed off. What freq does BBC WS English.

I don't know if it's scheduling, propogation conditions or whether I should check my antenna... sorry for the very general post, but wondering if others have noticed some of the usual suspects to be absent.

I'll let you know tonight here (0600z) but Radio Espana booms in about that time - most of the Euros peak up on the Grey Line propogation. 6055 was good about a week ago but as I don't habla Espanol it has limited interest for me!

Within the last 24 hours we had a M class solar event ranging between 6.6 and 8 with a R2 radio blackout occur. Propagation over the next 24-48 hours is expected to be unstable.

I don't think that explains why the OP couldn't hear anything 'yesterday', although I wouldn't be surprised if the bands suck tonight.

SOLARCYCLE 24.com / Solar Cycle 24 / Spaceweather / Amateur Radio VHF Aurora Website.

Several B-Class flares and atleast one C-Class flare have taken place within the past 24 hours around newly numbered 1160 which is located on the eastern limb and rotating into view. A few of these flares caused some CME's that are seen in the latest Lasco C2 movie blasting off the eastern limb. There will continue to be a chance for C-Class flares and perhaps an M-Class event.

Xrays are going WAY up right now:

Some big surges in background noise here this morning (2100 to 2330z) while monitoring the 8867kHz SP MWARA.

0400z 16th Feb Radio Espana booming in on 6055kHz peaking S7 on a JRC NRD515 (where S9 has been set for 50uV in 50ohms) and a 66ft longwire - and even 2 bars on my Yaesu VR5000 on a discone!
