I had the scanner working fine last week. Over the weekend there was a power outage and since then I can no longer get the scanner to connect to the Wi-Fi. It has kinda connected a couple of times showing the local IP but once I try to connect wth ProScan it drops off. Most times it shows "connection error"

any thoughts on how to rest and get it working again?

Does it work correctly in AP mode when listening using Siren in a mobile phone?

I usually have to remove the WiFi dongle and insert it again once a month or so to get it going.

Also that tip about the WiFi router getting strange after an outage are a good one. Log in to the router and select to restart it.

Check with a WiFi analyzer app how the 2,4GHz channels are in use. The Android one by Kevin Yuan works great. Each WiFi channel takes up +/-3 channels in bandwidth so usually you should see routers use ch1-6-11. If any nearby router use a channel that are closer then it will interfere and cause drop outs. It's best to have routers that are close to each other on the same channel as they then will interact in a trunked sort of mode and stay out off any occupied 1MB time slots among the 50 available for each channel.

I have power cycled the scanner, and the router and reconnected the dongle. So far I can only get it to connect for a moment once in a while but never can get data on the computer. At this point, I am thinking the dongle got fried. Can you use any WiFi dongle or does it have to be the Uniden one?

Unfortunately the dongles can be extremely flaky at times. I’ve got two scanners with dongles and they can be a pita.

Reboot the scanner, turn the router Wi-Fi on and off, reboot the router, redo the connection on the scanner, connect to another access point and then reconnect to the original.

Sometimes it’s a combination of these like reboot the router and reboot the scanner.

You can easily check that by selecting Access Point Mode and check with a WiFi device, your mobile phone or similar, if you can see the BCD536HP WiFi network and login to it. Then the dongle are working and you still have some router problem.

It will show WiFi but can't connect. Seems the dongle is dead.

this may sound odd, but worked for me in the pass. After you put in your password , add one or two more empty spaces....like hitting the space bar on keyboard. What do ya have to loose.
