5565 USB at 0050z: Luanda ACC wkg various aircraft. This is a MWARA SAT-2 (South Atlantic) frequency.
Absolutely fantastic signals from Africa into the western USA!!

Net! I used to hear them up close and personal. Back in the early 80's I was in charge of the comms for a large oil company involved in an off shore drilling project off Angola. Our main offices were in Luanda, we used HF for our primary comm including RTTY. In my career I did several projects with HF as the primary communications backbone in Africa and S. America.

Here is a brief audio clip of some of the traffic between KLM 598 and Luanda Control. I also heard them talk with a few other airlines including Virgin Atlantic 604 and South African Airways (sounded like Springbok 0621 but I could not locate flight). Station faded out after sunset.
