what time do you normally hear them? I'm out of town but can remote to my radio and record some audio. Gotta love the Internet :)

I usually hear them in the afternoon-today it was early evening. I find it a highly unusual spot for SSB operation but what do I know-you'll hear them for sure brandon with that loop:)

Hmm, sounds like a couple of guys taking advantage of propagation. That's in the center-right of the broadcast band but during daylight hours, it won't be active. I'll give it a listen tomorrow and see if I hear anything up here.

I recorded some audio today and had a chance to listen. To me it sounds like these guys could be operating base stations because one of them mentioned that his buddy came over. They were discussing topics such as NASCAR, hot rods and mufflers and also mentioned Cox Cable on L Street and National City. I could hear both sides quite clear, so it helps me believe they could be originating from the San Diego area as well.

Did you notice also-no callsigns, no signoff, etc? It's a quandry. I have been hearing the same guys on there for almost a year now and I cant figure out how that frequency could be assigned to them and nobody else. Also, why HF for their choice of comm? Are they in remote areas-maybe way up in the desert hills where they cant hit a repeater? Or are they just guys who got hold of HF tranceivers and are operating illegally?

I did not hear any callsigns. They used lots of profanity so most likely not legit users either. When I get back in town I will continue to monitor this net to see if we can find more clues as to the users.
