The freqs will not be available until after Feb 1, 2009. The state has $13 million in interoperability $$ in a grant. Much of that will be for the CSP system to go to P25 700MHz.

700 system

I guess my info is outdated!!? It makes sense that it will take that long since a switch over like that takes ALOT of work. My only hope is that its a monitorable system and that the range of the portables correct the dead zone areas. Stamford edacs system is prime example of poor plannning and testing when that system was being built.

that is not necessarily when the CSP will change over, that is when the frequencies will be available. The end of analog broadcast TV will free up those frequencies and allow the 700 band to be populated. The CSP intends to move to a P25 IP 9600 baud 700 MHz system but it is unlikely that will happen before the 2/09 date.

What scanner(s) will be able to pick CSP up when they make the move?
Do we have to choose either 3600 baud or 9600 baud in the program menu
or will that be done automatically?

the newer scanners should work but since it is in the future, it is very subject to change.
I would suggest a search for P25 (9600 baud) capable scanners.

Hello All!
There are some 700MHZ systems already in use. I had the same issue and/or questions. I got the answers from a couple of guys who live out west where some 700MHZ systems are already in use. We should have no problem monitoring the CSP even after they move, unless, they go encripted all the time which I seriously doubt.
