What's the scoop on the detachment repeater frequency?

I'm hearing this now in Renfrew, however I don't hear it unless I'm really close to the detachment. The Beat repeaters in town, are both stronger than this one. The LMRN repeater is much much stronger than the FleetNet repeater. With the LMRN repeater, I can have the antenna off my portable in my basement close to downtown and I can still hear it, but not the Fleetnet Repeater. Nowhere near as strong.

It's meant to cover the officers while they're in the detachment so most likely low power and an indoor antenna. I wouldn't expect it to cover much more than the detachment.

The detachment repeaters are basically a DVRS but instead of being in a car they are located inside the detachment.

Does this mean unit to unit without using the tower?

Pretty much. Think of it as a single freq. repeater but instead of talking to a base station it's talking to the talkgroup the radio is tuned to. So if the officer is on the local detachment TG, then the repeater links the portable to that TG. A major point on the repeater is that it only handles one TG at a time. I have not heard of several TG in use simultaneously. IE Detachment and K9. I suspect the Actual DVRS is programmed to just one TG.

There was an ambulance & PRU outside of work today. I caught 772.056250MHz on Close Call. It was normal FleetNet traffic.
That should be DVRS 04 with a PL of 131.8. VA3ADP is correct when they switch over to full LMRN the frequency will go ENC digital.
