To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Who here has some of the more recent DSP and flash codes for a 7100IP?

I'm looking to find out a few things:

What versions do you have that support P25 trunking? The only data sheet I have that
refers to them says F7R04A01 and F8R04A01 are two versions that will do that. (The
first one is a restricted distribution file that supports P25 trunked AES/DES encrypted digital
voice. The second is the unencrypted version.)

So MAYBE anything from the F7/F8 series and newer will do it?

But, if you have any versions that support P25 trunking, what version of the programmer
do they have to have at the minimum to run?

If you have these codes, or info, please PM me.

The latest flash code is J2R14C01 for RPM ver R2A. R13 requires RPM R1B. The last released code for Programmer was R11B01.

The DSP name is broken down like so. The first letter is an F or G, F for direct FM radios and G for I&Q radios. The number following denotes the series, 4 is plain unencrypted, 5 is VGE encrypted (only available in direct FM), 6 is DES encrypted, 7 is AES/DES encrypted including P25 trunking and 8 is for P25 trunking unencrypted. P25 trunking is not available on the I&Q radios either. The third digit is an R and what follows is the revision. The DSP code hasn't changed, they all are at R06H01 for whatever flavor excluding the F7 and F8 versions which are at your R04A01.

Programmer R19 was when P25 trunking was brought in. Also, R20 is when rebanding support was added for MRK, Orion, LPE and 500M.

Rev. 20 Programmer & P25 Trunking Unencrypted Digital Voice Flash & DSP Codes

So, if I'm using Programmer R20A, but not RPM, what is the latest/best Flash & DSP Codes to use for P25 Trunking & P25 Unencrypted Digital Voice for the P7100? Also, would anyone be willing to send me the codes if I don't already have them? Thanks in advance.

I guess what I'm really asking is J2R09A05 Flash with F8R06F03 DSP new enough to support P25 Trunking? I think the DSP is new enough, but I'm wondering if that Flashcode can support P25 Trunking.

Any help would be great.

P25 Programming using Programmer on a Motorola P25 System

Does someone here have any experience using Programmer to Program a Trunked P25 System into a P7100. I have been trying to program a P7100 for a nearby Moto P25 System with no success. I've tried several different combinations between RFSS ID & Site ID. Unfortunately, I continue to come up with CC Scan. Programmer Help isn't very helpful when it comes to P25 Trunking. I think the Trunked Set is Good, however it is a Motorola System and the LCN's are in the best order I can put them in, I doubt that any frequency table exists in Harris Firmware like Motorola Firmware. The Site ID is also confusing. After decoding the Control Channel, I get a site # like 003-001. I'm trying to figure out which is the RFSS ID & which is the Site ID. Perhaps the System NAC is also an Issue. I'm just wondering if anyone here has had any luck with Programming a Motorola P25 System into a Harris Radio.

P.S. This is being done with Programmer R20 Programming a P7100 with options 33 & 39 installed.
Flashcode: J2R11B01
DSP: F8R06F03

Thanks in advance.

The answer depends on how you program the radio - if you select Enh CC then all you really need are the frequencies and the WACN/SYS id. If you select fixed/dynamic Proscan you'll need the RFSS, NAC and site ID too.

You can read the NAC directly using the FCC menu (and the WACN/RFSS and SYS ID) but your radio code might not show all of this.

You can also scan a P25T site in P25 conventional - set the squelch to MONITOR mode and it will unmute on any voice traffic. It's a good idea to program a CG tone on the channel as well, so that it doesn't open in analog mode first before P25C. If all you want to do is listen, this is the way to go.

Hope this helps.

Enid,

Thanks for your help.

A few more questions:

I don't see anything that even closely resembles Enh CC & I can only select Fixed or Dynamic from the ProScan Dropdown List. This, of course, is with R20 Programmer not RPM. Perhaps that is why I can't find it.

With regards to the FCC Menu, do you suggest I access the menu in trunked mode? I've only used it in conventional mode. If I am to use it in conventional mode what freq. would I use it with, the CC?

I have decoded the control channel. I do know the WACN/SYS ID. I also have some form
of a site ID. It Reads as 003-001. I wonder if the 003 is the site # or the RFSS ID.

By the way this is a Simulcast System.

Let me know what you think.
