It can't be done scanner-to-scanner because the memory architecture is completely different. The only way to do it is with software even then it would take multiple steps
Dynamic Memory Architecture. The memory scheme used by many of the newer Unidens. Essentially put there are no banks - you allocate your own using a very different scheme than the limited and sometimes wasteful bank technology...best regards..Mike
Thanks I did do some searching and found out what DMA is. For what I listen to a non DMA scanner is easier to wrap my head around. That's why I liked the 780XLT so much as it does what I need it to do as I focus on a specific system. I tried a BCT-15 and couldn't make sense of it and sold it.
Thanks for all the help.
As ka3jjz pointed out, ProScan can do it.
1) Set ProScan to 780 scanner type.
2) Create a new database and download the data from the 780.
3) Save the database file.
4) Set the ProScan scanner type to 796.
5) Create a new database and import the database containing the 780 data.
6) Upload to the 796.
Got Proscan and did the database migration thing mentioned above and it is working. I've got to do some tweeking but I am hearing P25 transmissions now.
