800 mhz outside antenna

I only use my scanner for APCo 25 800 mhz stuff. looking for some suggestions form people that may have used any outside antennas that give the best 800 mhz receiption. I do pull from towers in all different directions.

Take a look at these Omnis: Austin DFQ-800N or Antenex FG8060 or FG8240 (or one of their gain versions which are more expensive).

I use the Austin with good results.

I use an antennex 6db gain base antenna with good results.

You can sometimes find them for cheap on Ebay.

I don't think I ever paid more than $30 for one, and they retail for
about $150.

GOOD coax is key. LMR400 or hard line, although I did get by with
RG6 quad shield for a short run.
