I just bought a XM Radio for my car and want to listen to it on my scanner. How do I figure out what frequency to tune my scanner to? I have a Radio Shack PRO-97.

Your scanner cannot tune to that frequency nor does it support WFM.

Actually, the XM radio will transmit on 88-91 MHz if I recall, but it is a VERY low powered signal. You would have to be within around 25 feet or so to be able to hear it on your scanner.

Insert Time Pause Here!

Turned on my XM in the truck and heard it loud & clear on my Pro-2004!

What they are saying is that he can't listen to it on HIS scanner.

I was not looking for some smart ass replys. I was just playing around with this deal, I got it on my radios in the house from the car, which is in the garage, and just wanted to know if I would be able to recieve it on the scanner. I am glad I was able to entertain the Einseins of the group. Oh ya by the way I had my a nieghbor that is into ham radio (I suppose that is funny too) try and he said he was going to look into it for me. I have it set at 88.1 becasue that is the cleanest in my area.

My XM will transmit on all frequencies in the FM band(88-107). And my scanner can recieve it when set to the frequency I have my XM set to TX on. I get around 100 yards for range.

That's funny my PRO-97 does not cover the commercial radio FM broadcast band it also doesn't cover wideband so I would have to say no the 97 can not receive your XM radio. Whether from the satellite or from the FM modulator.

On the other hand...
You could use one of those mini FM walkman-type radios to pick it up around the house. Be careful, though - XM is VERY addictive.

Exactly what were you expecting? Instructions on how to pick up a frequency which is outside the range of what your receiver will pick up?

OK, here's the deal. 6735357 is the secret code to enable the FM broadcast band. 009786 will allow you to use it as a kitchen blender.

Hi all,

"Oh ya by the way I had my a nieghbor that is into ham radio (I suppose that is funny too)..."

Yeah, it's funny as all get-out, go to www.hamsexy.com and see for yourself!

"Sirius is better."

Are you SERIUS? I guess so if you actually can endure Howard Squirm the Wiggly Worm.

Since Slugo got his answer and there was little to add to this topic, I am closing this thread.

Might I caution everyone here (including Slugo) that flaming is a good way to get a 1 week vacation from the site. A lot of flame wars start because people don't read what is said, they only think they did.
