Not picking up anything now just faded out.

8022MHz USB is one frequency used over this way by the VKS-737 HF Radio Network, and there are daily skeds at various times including the 0400-0700UTC period from the bases in Queensland (NE continental Australia) .

Given its night your end and late afternoon here heading into evening, its possible for 8MHz to carry that far.

OK , thanks for the information, I will keep an eye on this frequency in the future and see if I can confirm it. The audio was too weak to even tell if they were speaking English or another language.
