898T serial port

Uniden has given me an address to mail my new 898t to for service. Before I do this has anyone had a problem writing to com3 and found a resolution? I have made sure com3 & 9600 bps is correct, but still get a communication error. Thank you in advance.

Are you using a null adapter? It is required.

I don't know what a "null" adaptor is.

Radio Shack has them. It reverses the pins in order for proper connection. Part # 26-264 (260-0264)
