• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I Have Recently purchased a 900 MHZ EF Johnson LTR Repeater,
I am Currently working with a coordinator very slowly to get a LTR Repeater on the air,
My Question is

Is there a Single Site LTR Controller for 900mhz?
What kind of Keys and Software are needed?
and what is a reasonable ERP Output to talk to a coordinator about?
How many Repeaters are required for a 10-20 talkgroup single site LTR system?
and what is a reasonable height for a 60 Watt 900mhz Repeater Antenna?

I am sorry about all the questions, none of this is set in stone, i am just doing the research at this time,
I understand that this is a costly project, but it is not for me, it is for a local Non profit organization in fort worth,

your better off with a conventional repeater. Cheaper, Easy to set-up, maintenance is a minimal.

skynet - some of your questions don't make sense.

Is there a Single Site LTR Controller for 900mhz?

Well if you purchased a 900 MHZ EF Johnson LTR Repeater - what makes it LTR is the
fact that it should have an LTR controller included with it.

What kind of Keys and Software are needed?

Not sure about any keys with LTR as I am not specifically LTR familiar but you would
need the EF Johnson software/cable to program the repeater and I must assume
you would need specific software to program an LTR controller which would be
manufacture specific.

and what is a reasonable ERP Output to talk to a coordinator about?

That would depend on many factors which you do not know right now, such as
what antenna, antenna height, duplexer, feedline, filters, surrounding terrain, etc.

How many Repeaters are required for a 10-20 talkgroup single site LTR system?

There is most likely a formula based on averages to figure this out but I don't know
what it may be.

and what is a reasonable height for a 60 Watt 900mhz Repeater Antenna?

You do not have enough info to even come close to answering this question,
see my "many factors" answer above.
