900mhz Phones

I have two 900mhz digital phones ,when they are turned off I will get an open channel with no modulation. This has been noticed the last couple of years, but not before then the freq's are 906.4125 906.5875 base channels. The same is true for handset channels ,I find this when the antenna is off on my 2 analoge scanners is this the norm?

You are most likely just picking up birdie frequencies not related to your phone at all. The dead give away here is that you still get dead carriers when your phone is turned off? and you have no antennea on your scanners.

Oh yeah I forgot to say......

To test out the birdie theory, next time your long way from home, check to to if you still get dead carriers on those frequencies with no antennea.
