Ok, folks I'm really sorry if this is somewhere else, but I've spent last HOUR searching all over the net to find an answer

Ok so I got a new laptop and decided that I want to update my stuff in my scanner (it's been probably 3 years since I have). So I load my ARC in computer, use RR to make my systems/groups ect. So I'm finally over excited and hook it up to CPU, NOTHING! So I try to read from scanner tells me serial port is unavailable (nothing else is connected to CPU). So do some digging and find on ScannerMaster this USB cord patch and install it.
Driver for Windows operating systems:
Windows 7
PL-2303 Windows 7 Installer.exe
Feeling even more thrilled I think that I have cured the problem, NOPE (now I'm really frustrated)! So finally I just plug the cord in and I get a pop up window that says "USB-Serial Controller X No driver found"

Can someone PLEASE HELP ME! UGH I'm bout to cry :'(. Trying to get this programmed for a road trip and well I'm bout to throw it all on the ground and throw a 2 year old temper tantrum

Thanks again for the help and sorry if this is somewhere burried deep here!

Try right clicking the installer and then click "run as administrator".

WOWSERS!!!!! all of a sudden a box poped up in bottom right that said driver was installed! That solved it, thank you so much!!!!!!!

Ok......off topic now, BUT in my conventional groups there are red dots next to the name of the group, in my APCO groups they used to be blue dots, does it make a difference?!

THANKS AGAIN!!! :D :D :D :D :D

You are welcome. Glad to help. I can't help with the dots though, I don't use ARC.

In ARC996 (and ARC-XT): blue dots represent sites, and red dots represent groups.

There is no such thing as an "ACPO group". In Uniden DMA scanners, groups are part of systems; they cannot be set individually. If you are programming a P25 trunking system, then that entire system is P25 ("ACPO"), including every group within it. If you are programming a conventional system with individual P25 channels in it, then any group can have both analog and P25 channels in it.
