I don't believe it does have any power coming out of the 9pin. I use the Garmin GPS18pc which has an external power cord. Others have wonder if a USB version could be used with an adapter and the responses have mentioned the lack of power from the serial port.

I use the Deluo 12VDC powered GPS, and I stick it on the side of the scanner, it works OK.
The 5VDC power for your present one wouldn't work for me, as a second power adaptor is required.
I spliced the GPS and scanner power together for one power connection in my application.
You may consider exchanging what you have for the 12V model.

I travel a lot, and once you get GPS you will never go back, it works amazingly well.
I had trouble initially with the format of the lat and long inputs to the scanner.
There are several ways to express coordinates, I had find the one the scanner likes.
I use MS Streets and Trips software to diagram my systems.
Under tools/options, set for Deg/Min/Sec and +/- and location sensor ON
Then draw circles for the system radius, and pushpin to id the system or site.
This is how I enter my location information.

Lots of Luck, Its worth the effort.

I have this GPS... Byonics - TinyTrak - GPS Receivers

My question is does anyone know how much power (if any) the scanner provides to the GPS? The GPS requires 5v but the manual for the scanner (MobileConnectingAGPSReceiver < UnidenMan4 < TWiki) doesn't mention anything about power.

I don't want to fry my GPS.

Thanks for any help.

The scanner does not supply any power to the GPS. You need to supply power seperately either by using their GPAC accessory or by wiring it yourself.
