A-10's over Ft Chaffee

I am ~ 5 miles east of the impact area/range. There have been A-10's hitting the range off and on for about a month. That 30mm gatling is MUCH louder than the 20mm the F-16's had and that roar is unmistakeable.

I would imagine that even though the aircraft has changed, the 188th's radio frequencies have not. I got a list from an earlier post and plan to enter them into my Pro 2004 this afternoon.

Maybe I will have more info by Monday.

I plugged all of those into the scanner. I am assuming they are all AM.

I finally got the outdoor antenna coax repaired so I should hear anything.

Well, nothing yet but silence on those freqs. I added a run of RG-8X and moved the scanner to the table beside the recliner so I can listen better. I'm hearing FSM tower now at least. Thats a big improvement. <VBG>

Yes they are still using their old call signs. I have heard both Hawg and Tusk. Have not heard them use Ozark yet though.
The 141.550 was someone other than the 188th guys. Never did figure that one out. But the 141.600, 148.475 and 305.400 were definately Razorback A10's. 148.475 is a new freq. I had never heard them on that with the F16's.

And yes they are all AM mode.

I did not get a chance to listen today for anything.

Any one know whether or not they could travel down to Central AR to the Jacksonville AFB, I would like to catch some chatter.

a-10's to LRAFB

Since they are Arkansas Air National Guard, they not only could, they probably do. ARANG is headquartered at LRAFB, and C-130's are known to operate in Western Arkansas. I'd listen to both FSM and LRAFB frequencies to catch them.

148.475 was active this afternoon as well as 141.600. They talked with the 188th comand post on 140.425 and 268.1 on their way back to FSM. They were using Hawg and Tusk callsigns.

Someone was up on 140.5, but could not confirm who they were.

Hawg Moa active again today. 188th A10's are active this morning. 141.600 and 339.050. Aircraft callsign advance is calling targets to Hawgs on 339.050.

Ft. Chaffee is really active with the Oklahoma National Guard guys training. The A10's from the 188th are in the Hog Moa's, usually around 10am and 2pm plus or minus an hour. See earlier post for freqs. For the past 2 days there have been some Aircraft out of Shreveport on the range late in the day between 5pm and 6 pm. They have been using 139.800 and 139.675.
