I think it is important to note that as the maker of ProScan, I do not recommend this product for anyone running ProScan ScanCast for the following reasons:

1) This is a user interface or shell for the Windows mixer. Adjusting any of the controls is computer wide and can affect other applications and other ProScan instances that depend on audio from the Windows mixer.

2) ProScan has built in level controls that do not affect other applications or other ProScan instances.

3) ProScan has built in level meters.

Good point regarding ProScan! However, this is still a very valuable tool for anyone running two or more sound cards or instances of ScannerCast.

Looks pretty, but I'll save my $18 and spend the 30 seconds adjusting the input levels with the default Windoze mixer using this excellent (and 100% free) digital meter. Certainly not a "MUST HAVE", that's for sure, especially since there are plenty of free and open source programs out there that can accomplish the same task.

BTW, you never even included a link to the product's site.

Nice audio program but I have to agree with ProScan.

This is not for everyone.

The global changes may not be good for all, especially beginners or those who use the computer for other things.

This may be useful for the more advanced broadcaster with a separate feed computer though.

Those who use NiceCast for Mac have these features included in Nicecast.

I am using a free application which shows audio level on an input. I can run as many instances of the application as I want/need to show all inputs. I believe this is a better choice than the one suggested above for the reasons already stated.

Could you share the information about what you are using with us? If not, why bother to mention it?

Correct you are. It is nice that as least 3 of us in this thread agree on the best meter. I see DarkWood has a newer design that shows multiple sound inputs. I am using an older version and running multiple instances of it.

I really love his meters, they're quite easy to tweak to get the best results, and are large enough to be easily read from across the room. I haven't checked his site for updates in months, I'll have to check out the new version, sounds interesting.

I have a follow up question... for proscan users, do you suggest setting the Windows mixer levels at a certian point before adjusting level controls in the ProScan interface?

What do most of you do who are using ProScan?
