...as I had to change the name in the DB from Heinz Field to Acrisure Stadium. I wish the place would have been given a proper name to start with like Three Rivers Stadium, Civic Arena, and Starlake Ampitheater so we could continue to ignore the blatant commercialism built into the name and call it by it's original name for it's lifetime. Perhaps someday it will gain a popular nickname like The Igloo so we can reject the corporate sponsorship and just focus on the team/concert/event we are there for. Rooney Field perhaps?

Only the real People from Pittsburgh will call it Heinz field.

Agreed. I miss the days of the Syria Mosque, IC Light Amphiteatre, Civic Arena, Star Lake Amphiteatre, Three Rivers Stadium, etc. Most of the greatest places of concertdom in WPA from back in the day. I can still vividly remember the radio announcements for upcoming concerts in Pittsburgh mentioning those venues and Dicesare-Engler Productions.

Nick's Fat City was one of my favorites for bands like Buzz Poets and Vibrokings. And we just lost The Rex Theater recently too :(

I got to work at the Civic Arena and The Rex before they closed.

It's bad enough they do that with the stadiums, here in Philly the Eagles play at "The Linc" which the corporate sponsor hates, it's really called Lincoln Financial Field, the Phillies play at Citizens Bank Park.

I think it's worse when they change the stops on the subway from an actual street name to NRG Station, etc. where is that is that, just give me the street name.

My home 20 eating pizza.
I despise corporate advertising. I’ve called it the new Three Rivers Football Stadium since it opened. The arena has been the new Civic Arena since it opened as well.
Fortunately since I do my own programming by hand for everything my squawk boxes will still display the proper names.

Should we rename Port Authority to "Pittsburgh Regional Transit" too? All of these name changes are so dumb.
