Tuesday and Wednesday R. Australia on 17715 and R. Korea(North) on 15180 were listenable at 0130 zulu. Even though yesterday the bands were dead maybe solar activity is finally increasing.

Hmm...I read on spaceweather that we were inside a solar wind stream for a day or two. That's likely to have contributed to the nice opening. With the flux levels staying in the 70s, activity hasn't started to rise yet, darn it....73s Mike

After all the activity that the Ducie Island DXpidition generated all the up through the 10 meter band, I'm not 100% convinced the bands are as dead as people think they are. In the last several months, I worked those guys on 7 bands, Japan and South America while mobile on 17 and 10 meters. Get on the air and make some noise! Someone will hear you.

They aren't 'dead', just harder to work with right now due to the low activity. Yeah I had heard about all that Ducie Isl activity. Sure wish I could put up a decent HF antenna outdoors...73s Mike
