That would be a BP-90 battery pack for the 6 AA cells.

Not sure but I don't think they are made any more but I have seen
many for sale on ebay and a few of the other ham radio used gear
web sites.

Thank you fineshot1. I really appreciate it. I see one on Ebay. I got a new battery and charger from Maha but it charges so hot it only lasted 1 year.

I think you are on the right track. If you charge the AA's in a seperate smart charger
and use the BP-90's you will probably be able to get your AA's to last longer than
the traditional battery packs. I don't know what happened, but long ago the normal
rate chargers seemed to get phased out and only rapid chagers were sold which is
not the best option for battery charging. This creates heat and that is bad for batteries.
