Finally had the opportunity to meet Erik (abqscan) just today. He gave me some great pointers/help with some critically needed information etc., for my new RS Pro197. Erik is a guy with a whole LOT of patience and his help was really greatly appreciated.

that radio is so packed with features- you will continue to learn more and more about it! I still learn more about my 106 all the time! Erik and many other people on here have proven to be very helpful to me, as well.

Bob, it was a pleasure meeting you this morning. I am still surprised that at 9am, you did indeed show up at my door. That was a long drive for you, but I do hope the radio is working as you wanted it to. Enjoy!

Wow. From the Hiway 12 on ramp for I25 all the way to Erik's store, 3hours and 5 minutes. Also means rush hour in Colorado Springs.
It was worth it though. Erik is great.
When I lived in Trinidad, the Radio Shack store was owned by my cousin and the only frequency you needed was 46.48. Things have changed.

kc0kp,
Was your cousin's first name Tom as I believe a chap by the name of Tom was the last owner of the Trinidad RS? That RS here in Trinidad was closed down some years ago after which the building was heavily damaged by a storm, where the roof caved in (if I remember correctly). There is a RS down in Raton, NM but that one is pretty small especially when compared to Erik's "Communications Emporium".
Finally, I just can't believe how busy the Colorado State Patrol freq is!!

Thanks everyone! If only every customer came through the door with a scanner in hand...

I prefer for everyone to leave with two radios in their hands.... There is just so much to monitor in the metro area... it makes it easier!

Eric made me walk out with a new 197 today, the hole transaction or time in the store lasted about three minutes. Thanks Eric it is already in use and I will be installing the 2096 in the truck when I get it next month.

Paul, it was good to see you today, but tell everyone the truth.... I twisted your arm for you to get the radio ;-) Not really, but I do appreciate your patronage! When you want a 197 for the truck, let me know!
