I've been looking for the Audio AGC setting, but can't find it. Both the Uniden & the 'Easier to Read' manuals tell you to "Set/Scroll to Audio AGC" but they don't tell you where Scroll from.
They mention pressing Menu twice to exit, but don't tell you where to start "scroll to"

I have looked thru the Menu entries 4 times and I've look thru the sub menu of 'Settings' at least 4 times, This Audio setting is not there. The Uniden manual is on pages 34 & 43. The Easier to read version is on page 20.

So much for the "Easier to read" manual.

I have no "Settings & Options" in that Settings sub-menu. There are 12 entries, Audio is not one of them.

Was this something that was added w/ a firmware change? My version is 1.08.01.

The manual is wrong. Here is where to find it.

Menu
Program System enter
Select System enter
Edit SyS Option enter
scroll to Set Audio AGC enter
That couldn't more complicated if they tried  .

Another wrong function entry.

Thanks. Sound like that feature was removed and the On/Off function was buried in the Menu.

The AGC setting on all Uniden scanners is basically useless. GRE/Whistler has an AGC that has always worked great going back to the Radio Shack Pro96. Wish Uniden could implement one.

If I listen to a weak analog transmission where there are background hiss, that hiss stays at the same level regardless of if someone talks or not. Listening to the same channel on a 436 or 536 that hiss almost disappears when someone talks. I would say it goes down to 1/3 of its original volume. So the AGC have some 4-5dB effectiveness but can be hard to tell from a digital transmission.

The BCT15 got a firmware upgrade where the AGC could be adjusted by certain button combinations and can be changed to work more aggressively and very noticeable. I believe that all those AGC and audio levels and the EQ tone balance are available in the service menu of all Unidens trunktrack scanners so it would be fairly easy to read and write the memory positions for the values and have them accessible to the user.
Having a bass and treble control would be a great feature to have when using external speaker or earphone to be able to adjust the sound to better match the external audio device. Pushing the Vol and SQ controls access some functions that I never use from those button and instead use the menu system. They could instead be for an AGC function graded 1-5 and tone control functions.

Bass & Treble can be achieved externally in various ways by outboard processing units using the external speaker jack.
Here are example (but they are expensive)

The DSP in the scanners already have the tone controls needed, but it would be fairly easy to insert tone controls of your own but needs drilling holes for the potentiometers.
