It's been there all month and has been discussed in other threads. A quick search of B270E02 in the search box above will return multiple posts.

Interesting in that a quick glance at a nautical chart of the approximate area indicates water depths of less than 150 ft.
But then again, since it indicates barometric altitude, who knows?

its not a ship, its not a buoy
its a CPME Parrot Beacon used by the nearby William J Hughes Technical R&D Center for the FAA.
No ship or buoy would be on ADSB, rather AIS-B.

And why would a ship or a buoy be indicating -900 Feet in altitude? The ocean floor is not even 500 feet in that area. the reason its at -900 feet is to prevent erroneous TCAS Alerts to aircraft flying nearby and violations of 1000 feet of separation.

Its not even a physical device, its digitally inserted by the FAA.

On top of that, did anyone think to check its squawk code? 1273 -

NBCAP Allocation of Beacon Codes Plan, JO7110.66 Revision F.

Appendix A-1 - 1273-1275 Calibration Performance Monitoring Equipment (CPME), MRSM, and
PARROT transponders.

EDIT: Apologies on the necropost as well - but this particular thing, is a nuisance to the ADSB community in several places, despite the fact, it has been debunked to what it is, based on the information provided, people just keep asking and asking about it.
