I see ads now for sites like boldprogressive.org, it's a shame RR has come to this, myself I have been waiting for a way to turn off the ads being a Premium Subscriber.

Please don't tell me you run this or run that to stop the ads, I shouldn't have to run another program or an add on to stop them on a radio/scanner related site.

If your going to have ads limit them to radio/scanner related material. If I want to know something about toilet paper, I'll google it.

It takes a total of 5 (well, maybe 10) seconds to turn on your adblocker. Then you never see ads anywhere again.

Honestly you could probably do it in less time that it took you to write that message.

We don't directly control advertisers on our pages - Google does. I have the ability to block ads from certain advertisers (and we've done a few) but for the most part the ads are specifically targeted to individuals based on browsing history, your location, what's on the page etc.

With that said, we are developing mechanisms to allow premium subscribers the ability to turn off most ads if they choose to do so. It will be rolled out with the style and database updates that our team is working on right now.

Finally, you may not believe this, but the ads do work and generate significant income for RR. We don't get paid unless people click on the ads - and people click on them all the time - to the tune of generating about $800 a day for the site.

I really understand the ads make money for the site, it's mostly the kind of ads that bother me, like, asking what my Governor is doing by a "Progressive Web Site". Myself, I feel no political ads or related web sites involving their views should posted on a radio/scanner web site. It's bad enough you get them on TV and the radio all the time, enough is enough, why here?

The ads on the main page don't bother me as much as the ones in between the messages.

Thanks for taking the time to answer me. :)
