Does anyone monitor American Electric in the Shreveport / Troop G area? I travel a lot more for work now so I programmed AEP for kicks. All I got was a digital data signal on 854.6875 in Ringgold with no info. The only upgrade I don't have is PV and have never personally monitored an EDACS system (analog or digital). I suppose there is very little interest in monitoring large power company systems judging by experience but I figured I'd give it a shot.

Sorry, should have been more specific.

SDS100 picked up a strong signal about where WPCB251 says it should be. Except there was no decoding or information whatsoever, just a high pitched data sound which to me sounds nothing like DMR or P25 non-decoded audio. Considering the 1) last entry on the database says the system was EDACS, 2) PV is the only upgrade my SDS100 does not have, and 3) I have zero experience with EDACS systems; I assume it is EDACS ProVoice and was requesting confirmation as it may be weeks before I can get back out there with Unitrunker.

Be aware that AEP/SWEPCO is switching from EDACS to P25.
Eventually it will be (if not already) part of this system:

Some of the frequencies used at the new P25 sites are now some kind of SCADA data channels. They aren't P25, ProVoice or DMR. That could be what you are picking up. Are you sure it's not a EDACS control channel?

More about it in this thread. American Electric Power P25 WACN 92715

Ty sir. I was just reading the "Ohio" Thread and discovered that apparently they are trying to link all these systems together. I'll join in on that. I was wondering of any NW LA folks pick them up on the Ringgold, Bellvue, Plain Dealing, and or Shreveport sites as I can only monitor this area when I'm on the road for work.

Shreveport has come on line on 857.3875 for AEP system 1F9 - 92715 as site 66-066. Showing one neighbor, 80-080 on 854.0375 but I can't pick that up from where I am at. The EDACS site 22 on 855.6125 is still online and granting calls for the time being.

The other thread is mostly OH and TX listeners. I bet that neighbor is Mooringsport in north Caddo if someone is close and can check it out.

I can hear a digital signal on 854.0375 on Unitrunker but no system comes up. The signal has some static, so I am pretty sure it's not the Plain Dealing tower.

Are you in Plain Dealing? I have to run US-371 from Springhill to Ringgold tomorrow or Monday. Where should I focus searching for this thing?

That is handy. Thank you. I guess I missed that in the Area Systems thread. I forgot about Hosston too.

Yes, I am in Plain Dealing. Probably less than a mile from the Plain Dealing LWIN tower. I am about 10-12 miles east of Hosston, I suspect that am hearing Hosston. You ought to be able to hear Bellevue from HWY 371.

I am 30 miles or so north of Shreveport, I can't hear anything on the Shreveport frequency.

I've picked up a lot of Bossier from Webster and Bienville. Plain Dealing and Bellevue included (mostly LWIN). Caddo is a stretch though, just depends on the airwaves.

It's entirely possible you're picking up a faint Entergy tower in El Dorado, AR. I pick it up sometimes and it's CC is the same freq. It's also possible the neighbor is the opposite direction and south or even in TX.

Picked up weak signal north of Cotton Valley. Missed the NAC but I did see the 80-80 flash. It's for sure north of Shreveport and makes sense if it is in Mooringsport. I'll look again as I go back south. Can't pick it up in Spinghill at all.

Alright, 1F9 80-80 NAC: 050 was a brief hit around Cotton Valley on US-371. Which would make sense if it was Mooringsport but I'm perplexed as why our Plain Dealing folk aren't having better luck.

Rgr, I have Unitrunker on a laptop I can take with me when out and about. Next time I get close to there I'll see what I can find also.
