Thanks, I think the call sign for the freq I found is WPCQ257 ... I looked it up on that link you gave me and it had a total of 3 frequencies listed, none of which are listed in the RR AEP database anywhere near me in VA ... also, is there any way I can use unitrunker in this situation without a tap (i already know the answer, but i dont like it haha)
edit: anybody near Dismal Peak or possibly Roanoke that could UniTrunker this bad boy and see whats up? thanks
AEP has a network of 800 mhz. EDACS TRS/6 ghz. Microwave links analog full duplex network covering from Ohio, part of W. Va., western Va. and other selected locations in between, i.e., possibly Kentucky.
1. The Va. AEP TRS sites typically are located west of Tobacco Row Mtn. near Lynchburg. Some of the TRS sites listed by city probably are located on a nearby mountain or high elevation.
TRS Location, City/County
Fleming Mountain, Bedford
Sugar Grove, Smyth
Big A Mountain, Russell
White Gate, Giles
Grundy, Buchanan
Hansonville, Washington
Whitetop Mountain, Grayson
High Knob, Wise
Fancy Gap, Carroll
Lovingston, Nelson
Mt. Cross, Pittsylvania
Tip Top, Tazewell
Pulaski, Pulaski
Lynchburg, Lynchburg(Tobacco Row Mtn.)
Clintwood, Dickenson
Salem, Salem (Poor Mtn.)
Patrick Springs, Patrick
Penhook, Franklin
Rustburg, Campbell
Smith Mountain, Pittsylvania
2. The callsign you referenced, WPCQ257 addresses licensed operation for AEP TRS sites at White Gate, Giles Co., Tip Top, Tazewell Co., Pulaski, Pulaski Co. and Salem, Salem city. Frequencies licensed for only the Salem TRS (Poor Mtn.) operation are 856.3125, 857.4125, 858.4125, 859.4125 and 860.4125 mhz. I am not listing all the frequencies for the other TRS sites. I am not within ground reception range of any AEP TRS site and do not have any TRS LCNs.
3. Approximately 10 years ago I did a portable satellite tv installation on the roof of the downtown AEP Va. headquarters for a satellite teleconference to be held there. From there is a AEP 6 ghz. microwave link that allows their offices to connect to the network and as previously mentioned the network is full duplex covering most of western Va. part of W. Va. and part of Ohio. I recall my AEP POC telling me they had frequent comms with a power station north of Roanoke. At the time I was very concerned that their microwave link would cause TVI and ruin the satellite tv teleconference. Fortunately it did not.
