Hello Everyone,
I have decided to start monitoring AEP Texas EDACS system. There are two sites I monitor pretty regularly (San Angelo, Site 10 and Big Lake, Site 17). I have put in the "Common Talkgroups" and San Angelo Talkgroups and put it on ID Search and have picked up some talkgroups not listed in the database. I don't want to submit them just yet as I don't know exactly what these talkgroups are. I know very little about this system and how it is organized as far as talkgroups are concerned. If anyone with some knowledge on this system can give me any information about this system or what exactly these talkgroups are, I would appreciate it very much.

Unlisted talkgroups on the San Angelo site:
TG395 - sounds like dispatch, Giving a call type and address
TG398 - Units talking back and forth, sounds like units in Sonora
TG399 - Units talking back and forth, unknown location
TG394 - Radio keyed up but no voice heard
TG456 - Radio keyed up but no voice heard
I noted a lot of unit to unit private calls

Unlisted talkgroups on the Big Lake site:
TG398 - Units talking back and forth, unknown location
TG396 - Units talking back and forth, Units talking about calls and locations in Big Lake

Years ago I started a wiki article for that.

The database for that system is way obsolete. Doesn't make much difference now because they are in the process of replacing it with a P25 phase 2 system.
I just added those listed above to that page. I knew AEP was in the process of replacing it with a Phase 2 system, just didn't know when or what the plan was for this area.

If there are any P25 Sites up in the area those talkgroups could be simulcasting to the new system. Here is the thread

Please consider checking all freqs for all sites that are close enough for you to monitor. It is entirely possible for AEP to be running EDACS and P25 side by side for a period of time for any new sites that they set up. If you just program what is in the DB as an EDACS system, you'll never know if a corresponding P25 site is live.

If you have a scanner that will decode P25, do a band search from 850-862 Mhz and see if you can find any active P25 control channels. If you do, and if they broadcast a WACN of 92715 and a System ID of 1F8 or 1FA or 1F?somethign? then you've probably hit on a new (undocumented) AEP P25 site in your area. Check the link that @Remington12G posted above.
