What happened to the ability to search for an agency within Identified data? For example, I believe I used to be able to search for "Yellow Freight" within Oklahoma under identified data. I would have thought this would have been implemented in both statewide and all-states capacities. Maybe I'm missing something?

It also seems like the DB is running on Eastern Standard Time. Is there any way to get it to use Central Standard Time for my view? I thought it could before. Maybe that was because Lindsay lives in Texas?

Look for "User CP" on the top of your page
then look for edit options on the left side

Then look for this "Date & Time Options"

Time Zone
All timestamps displayed on the forums can be automatically corrected to show the correct time for your location in the world.
Simply select the appropriate time zone from the list below.

In addition, you may set the appropriate option to allow for daylight savings time in your part of the world. Automatically detect DST settings
DST corrections always on
DST corrections always off

That previous search was very problematic from a development standpoint - I am redesign that search component and it will be back in a future release.

In the meantime, use the search component at the top of the site (google's search of our site) to find that kind of data. Google has well indexed the site and will ultimately do a better job of pointing you to results.

For some reason, even when I correct the time settings, they still show up to be Eastern Time. I have my profile settings set for Central time and DST off. Still incorrect.

Example: WV Interop System shows update today at 17:20. It's only 16:25 here and the timestamp does not reflect any changes when I change my profile time settings. It just stays the same.

Actually all the DB entries are based on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC; used to be called GMT (Greenwich Mean Time)). You cannot change the display of what shows in your browser. Only the forum times may be adjusted to your local time zone with the UserCP entry described above.

This is not new for this version of the DB, it was the same in the the old one and has been that way since RR took over from the Trunked Radio Net back in February of 2004.

With the last release of RR, the view of the database times was in CST. When an admin changed something in the DB, it showed the real time in CST for the update. Are you sure that it wasn't changed from CST to GMT?

If it was that was a change, when we first started in 2004 it was in UTC.

Lindsay,

For the life of me I am certain that the DB was in CST (or at least customizable), not GMT. Can you please confirm this? Looking at the DB update times in GMT is very different from before. Now it's +6 hours so it's showing the next day, etc. It is not easy to tell when something was updated. I know it was not like that before. Please tell me I'm not losing my mind.

Actually I am losing my mind but it does make me feel better if you say I'm not. J/K

Well, it's possible. After all, Lindsay lives in TEXAS, which is in CST, so it would make sense, right?

No, you're not losing your mind. The time use to be Central time. It changed when the new site was rolled out. I noticed it right away when we went live.

Humph!
I guess I haven't been paying too much attention, but I did go back to some updates that I did right at the RR roll-out time (back in Feb, 2004) and the times there sure seem like UTC to me. Of course that is 3 1/2 years ago and my memory may be fading, but our (wife & I) schedule during that period (we were in New Mexico) would indicate that I would not be up very late at night because of a need to be up at the crack of dawn. Some of those entries show some pretty late times, after 11 PM, if that was CST then on MST it would have been way after 10 PM, seems pretty unlikely to me.

In any case, I like it being on UTC, makes it the same for everybody when you reference something when talking about it to someone else in another time zone.

Okay, so would you consider going back to CST? Most people who use the DB are in the US and that would make it only 1 or 2 hours off for most, instead of 5-8. Maybe you could put it up for a vote? (CST or GMT)
