Don
The problem we have here Don is that most list of VHF (138-144/148-150.8) frequencies that have been posted here and elsewhere do not take into account the major overhaul that DoD did to this band in the middle 2000s. The other factor that has effected what you hear in this range is the effect that trunked radio systems have had on conventional LMR assignments. Users that use to take up a simplex or repeater pair now utilize the TRS and this has had a profound effect on what we here in this and the other federal LMR bands (previous DoD frequency assignments). The other factor that is peculiar to Randolph and other similarly located geographic bases are that frequency assignments are different for bases that are near the US/Mexico border.
I don't want you to think I am being flippant here, but thanks to all the changes that have been made mil monitors are going to have to use the search button on your scanner in the AM mode with 25 kHz steps (not 12.5 kHz which would be used for the FM side of things) if they want to catch stuff. And you do not have to be near the base to hear activity in this band. I catch stuff all the time in this range from aircraft transiting through my area or who are using various training areas in the region around me. I have one scanner devoted to searching the 138-144/148-150.8 MHz range for AM air activity.
Having said all that, here are the AM frequencies that are used in and around Randolph. Keep in mind they also have other freqs in this range that are used in the various training areas/MOAs. These ranges/MOAs are also used by other USAF AETC training units such as Laughlin etc.
