I only heard part of the message;

About 8:45 p.m. I cought part of a conversation on the SLC Airport system TGID 1200, which I origionally had listed as Refueling Trucks but RR Database now also says SLC Fire.

Basically it was:

(Callsign?) I have a C-130 on runway ?? with flames and smoke showing on the left wing. You take the 3 o'clock (Callsign?) you take the 12 o'clock.

That was all I got, I loose the airport signal where I live in Tooele. Is/was this a training excerise or real world?

I must have been asleep because I did not hear that. Usually if they are training they will be on TGID 1360. After reading your post though, I looked at the Web sites for TV Channels 2, 4, and 5, but there was no mention of this type of thing on any of them so I think it may have been a training exercise you heard. You should have been able to tell by the tone of the conversations. If it is real, there is no mistaking it because they will be excited and literally yelling into their radios. I have to admit, though, I have heard some training exercises from the airport that made me look out the window to see if I could see smoke out in that direction.

------------
EDITED TO ADD: This morning (Friday, July 27th) at approx. 9:30 am, SLC FD at the airport held a training exercise on TG 1200. So it would appear that they do not have a set TG for doing their training exercises. As is usual, they had a mock emergency landing with a military aircraft and, according to their radio traffic, they had no communications with the pilots and only smoke pouring from the fuselage - no flame showing. You know it is an exercise when you hear the matter-of-fact tone in their voices. It is almost comical.
