Ok I have two questions here. First one is, does anybody know which parts of the city are covered by the 2 dispatch channels? My second question is, does anyone know there channel line up? For example I will hear something such as "car 5 go to channel 6." so what I mean by that is when they say channel 2,3,4,5 ect. What talkgroup are they switching to? I have all their talkgroups in my scanner. I used the text tags that are listed in the database for all of them. I would just like to know what talkgroup they are switching to on their radios. I assume there going to one of there car to car or tac channels.

APD Channel 6 is Car to Car 1 ... we should probably submit that update to RR database for clarity.

Ch 1 / Ch 2 split is generally geographic .. I think Ch 1 is west & south, Ch 2 is north and east .

The potential issue with naming a channel by number is that you have to keep changing it every time it moves. Car-to-Car 1 used to be programmed as channel 5. It moved long before the DB got updated.

Additionally, you get some guys that talk old-school. Tallmadge PD calls their car-to-car "channel 4" simply because that's the position it was when they were non-800. I think it is actually position 2. Same goes for Bath/Coply/Fairlawn that call it "B", because they used to change the ABC switch on the old system.

During the day Akron dispatches on channel 1 only. Anywhere around 1430-1530 there is an announcement made "all car in sectors 2 and 3, dispatch 2 for normal traffic". Now they are using channels 1 and 2

General Info....i don't know exactly where the bounderies are:

Sector 1- Downtown
Sector 2- North (Tallmadge Ave/ North Hill)
Sector 3-East/South (Ellet area/Tripplett Rd/Kenmore area)
Sector 4-West( Hawkins Ave/Copley Rd/ W. Market)

Akron appears to be really understaffed so even though a car has a district, they run all over the city to stay on top everything so the calls don't get backed up.

i know this is outside of what you are asking, but from what I gather (by listening to them) they are real heroes with what all goes on there.

I rode with the Akron police and they are running ALL over the city all night. As stated, even though they have zones, they go anywhere to make sure calls don't get backed up. We were patrolling the Goodyear Heights/Ellet area, but we went to North hill, downtown, etc.
