Hi there! New to the forum, listen to ACFR on 154.325 quite often. I'm having big reception problems from my home this evening. Scanner is a Bearcat with the built in retractable whip. Scanner hasn't moved and got perfect reception last night but nothing today. Is anyone aware of a problem with one of the transmitting facilities for Alachua Communications?

hey, I just heard them simulcast a building fire at 21:14 on this (154.325) as well as one of the 800 and GFR analog freqs (154.145).

I heard it too-- but very scratchy. It's normally crystal clear. I'm going to move by scanner around-- maybe I'm getting interference from my laptop or something today.

Hi Jim, I'm in the Jonesville area, so sort of the western side of the County, but I've always had PERFECT reception and I have not moved my scanner from where it normally is. I didn't get a chance to catch anything yesterday, but I'll flip it on tonight-- perhaps I was just getting some interference from something else in the room.

well, tonight (New Year's Eve) should give us plenty to listen to. What kind of scanner do you have?

It was an active evening Jim. Heard a few med calls right around midnight and a residential building fire go out after 0200 but was half asleep so I don't recall anything else.

I have a Uniden Bearcat BC 855 XLT. I just recently bought it from EBay after my old RS unit bit the dust.

I see that it is 800MHZ.

Do you have the main dispatch and TAC frequencies for ACFR on 800MHZ?

..BTW reception is back up to snuff. Not sure what the issue was the other night. If they were running at reduced power or different tower site or maybe i was just having interference at my house. I'm not sure.

But it's good now!!

I can often here the FD paging on 154.325 here in Hernando County especially at night. Does FR use the VHF frequencies for normal operations or are they on the trunked system? Does the Sheriff still use the UHF frequencies? Thanks.

FR and SO use the trunked system for operations. Only the initial FR dispatch is simulcasted on VHF.
