One quick simple question that you can answer.

Does this provoice system - since it is EDACS -have the annoying beeps /tones after the transmission from the dispatcher. Just wondering if I can use a bc350a or if I need a trunktracker scanner. I don't want to have to listen to the 5 tones after the transmission.

Thanks,

You cannot monitor Albuquerque PD with any scanner I know of. The Alba and Bernallilo Fire Department (dispatch only) can be heard but no mobile units. The West side is repeated on 155.850 and Southside on 154.815 VHF.

Let me know if you need any additional information.

When you try and scan this system with a non trunktracker scanner do you get those annoying beeps (always 5) after the transmission from dispatch on 800mhz? I say from the dispatcher because I understand the system is digital for the portables and can't they can't be heard. I am visiting in July and want to know if I can use a bc350a scanner or if I have to buy a new one. I know of the 2 freq. that are VHF for APD and are analog.

I have never tracked a provoice system. In Denver they have an EDACS analog system and with my old bc246 I never had a problem programming or scanning.
Thanks for the quick reply.

I'll try to answer for pfollmer, Michael,if you monitor the system and an analog TG key up, when they are done, you will hear the beeps. If a digital(provoice) TG key's up, all you will hear is the data come through your speaker and there will be NO beeps when the TG ends. The ABQ/BERN system will get programed just like the Denver system, your radio will ignore the digital TG's.

Thanks, That is exactly what I wanted to know. I looked for this info on the net and on this site but did not find anything pertaining to the tones. I thought I would post. I will now buy a Uniden bct-8. Very much appreciated.

No prob Michael. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. BTW, the RS Pro2055 does a great job monitoring the EDACS in ABQ. =)

You will not be able to monitor ANY Provoice talkgroups with any scanner, period. No scanner does Provoice. You would be able to hear analog talkgroups.
