Uniden models 536 and SDS200, I have been watching and recording radio ID's for input into the radios. I have several ID's listed on paper with the same officer having 2 different ID's. Is it possible to have an ID for the handheld that would be different than the car radio, or is this a possible radio coding issue when displaying the ID's.

Yes for me too. My local fire departments have multiple IDs (for vehicle and portables.)

That's exactly how it should be done. Each physical radio gets a unique ID on the system, no matter how many radios one individual may be issued. It's especially common for a mobile and portable issued to the same person.

And some places have multiple portable radios assigned to one person. Monitor dispatch and tactical channels at the same time.

The agency I retired from would use a scheme of 180010 -180019. First 1 signified its a fire radio. 8001 is the call number. Last digit signified the type of radio 0 is a mobile, 1-9 are portable radios.

Pretty labor intensive to set up. Hard to ID a voice when muffled by breathing apparatus. Supposedly they now favor some type of lookup table in the console, which is fine if maintained.
