Florida has Analog, P25 and ProVoice? I see in my area that they are using 453.78750 - P25, which is not ProVoice correct?

Not sure I understand? The mode has no bearing on ability to talk to other departments, all radios have common "TAC" channels, plus interconnects don't care about the native radio system type.

Come to Hillsborough County (Tampa) and listen to a patch test with neighboring counties. It's pure listening entertainment. Even when they don't [attempt to] patch systems, they can't even hook up on the conventional 800Mhz mutual aid freqs. Hillsborough SO flew a helo into Polk County to help them look for a missing person, and they agreed to meet on a MA Tac channel. Problem was, Hillsborough was using rebanded freqs, and Polk was still on the old freqs. Unreal.

I'm not saying everyone IS doing it, but they certainly CAN. The "system" is capable. Whether departments take the time and effort needed ahead of needing it is another story.

lack of properly training is a common problem everywhere. i've seen dispatchers patch channels together that already have a hard patch, resulting in a channel lock up. then i've seen dispatchers completely panic when they try to patch and cannot figure out how to do it-even when they were just shown the 3-4 mouse clicks required not 5 mins earlier!

as to MA TAC, most of my PS customers have both old and new freqs in thier radios. even so they can't comprehend which channel to use!
