Hi, doing some storm-related monitoring here in Central VA.

I have discovered a new AEP site (69.69) in Virginia (SysID 1F7). Unfortunately, I can't directly decode this site, but I can verify that it's a neighbor site of both 51.51 and 72.72, as I can decode those sites and see it as adjacent on both.

View attachment 148728

As I said, I am not able to decode the 69.69 CC at my location, but I am pretty sure it's associated with this license:

Next time I am down that way I will try to confirm.

I also have seen a new TDMA TG (4260) which I can confirm is a DDC associated with outage work being done in Amherst/Nelson/Albemarle counties in Virginia.

This might be a bit of a long shot, but any chance you could make a symbol capture bin in OP25 and DM me with it sometime when you have a chance. I need more Harris P25p2 systems to study, and if you have a decent amount of voice traffic on that system, I could use some samples to make sure I'm decoding TDMA-CC and getting the link control, etc, properly out of Harris systems. Only have Duke Energy locally, and they are enc'd up the A, so can only do so much with those.

I wouldn't necessarily expect that particular site that Hank monitored to be a be a TDMA-CC site. In TX / OK / LA is where the AEP TDMC-CC stuff is. You'd want to ask somebody there for some samples.

I've never tried to run DSD-FME on Windows. I'd be willing to try, if it's possible -- and if there is a way for me to get what you need from DSD-FME output. But like I said, I don't have access to TDMA-CCs here.

Well, I can still use the traffic channels if those are TDMA, even if the control channel isn't. Actually, P25p1 control channels might be valuable as well, I don't know if I have enough handling for Harris Phase 1 TSBK group/regroup grants to properly trunk those either, so that might be beneficial as well. I'd just have to see what PDUs get pumped out by and see what needs to be filled in on the decoding end.

If you have any with DSDPlus raw signal wav files, I can usually work just fine with those as well. I was able to decode a couple of very short samples posted back in 2021 from this post just fine.

As you can imagine, power systems aren't very talky unless there s a weather event. But I'm sure there will be some traffic this morning from the folks who turn off the meters for nonpay. I'll see what i can get you.

I'm going to TDMA-CC land this weekend. I'll try to figure out how to get that saved, and ill bring back some samples.
If you can, that's great. If you can't, that's fine too. Just PM me if you get some samples. If you use fast lane, I'm sure mtindor or somebody will help you do the raw file saving. If you use something else, then I have no idea.

When DSDplus is running, and you are focused on the main DSDplus screen, press R

You will see a line show up indicating that recording of raw audio has started along with the name. Record for about 10 minutes and then press R again and you will see a line indicating recording has stopped

Then go into your main folder find that very large dot WAV file, archive it into a compressed, zip file, and somehow make it available for download or access to LØVË. You can compress 100 MB WAV file down to about 3 to 3.5 MB.

Sorry I was wrong about the dates, it's next weekend. But I don't mind at all. Matter of fact, I can probably get more than 1 site.

That looks simple, however I have two very large dot WAV files. 1R .... and CC .... both are 7 and 6 GB respectivly. I need to look into this, I literally have never paid attention to this, just the individual recordings that I have the threshold set at. Looking at it more, the 1R was last modified now. And the CC... was modified in Feb (right about the time I started using threshold prioritization. I could probably delete this and go from scratch....

I would delete all the way files they’re huge there’s no way you are ever going to want to look through them or listen through them. If it were me, I would delete them

Yeah you're right, they're gone. Plus I'll delete them again to capture fresh samples. I have mobile SDR I leave on overnight on trips so I just may get something off the Shreveport sites.

Just remember, the raw audio that is needed is not that audio you’re seeing. It is audio produced specifically when you press the R wind focused on the main screen. That starts the recording and stops the recording. And the name of the file will make it obvious that it is a raw audio file.

3 raw recordings (in excess of 10min each) from 3 sites have been sent to the gmail listing I found earlier in this thread. @lwvmobile Email is the only way to send this I've discovered due to the size

@mtindor Attached is the P25 data, new CC's have been added to pretty much every site.

You can just compress the wav files into a single zip file, and upload them to any number of file hosts. I usually just point people to this one if they don't already have a service/host of their own. You can upload there and post the link here when you get it. It requires no registration or login for the person uploading or the person downloading.

Thanks for the tip
Thanks for the samples, I was able to learn something new today. I found a Harris Opcode for Talker or Caller Alias. I was able to pull a few Aliases out of Site 55, namely SWP-1164, SWP-1021, Dunbar-S, and SWP-7004. I'll have to work on writing up some code for it now.

Code:

Wow that is sweet! I've never seen that on any P25 system/site that I've ever monitored. Very cool.

Very interesting. I was able to get one more site on the way out. May not be able to pull anything from it but here it is.

Is this something only Harris has?
I honestly have no idea, but I would imagine not, its not a unique thing to have. I'm honestly surprised there doesn't seem to be some form of talker alias already commonly known on P25, about every other system type has one in some form or another, and P25 definitely loves to cram as many things as possible into their LCW and vPDUs. Somebody on Github recently mentioned they thought P25p1 has a form of alias known as 'Soft ID' in the Low Speed Data, and sent me some samples to investigate, but I'm still working out if that's the case or not.
