Amplified Speakers....RS Vs. /\/\

I'm thinking about replacing my unamplified motorola speaker with either the RS amplified speaker, or picking up a Motorola and doing the scanner mod on it.

Has anyone compared the 2? Cost wise they are about the same, but of course I like the look of the motorola.

Option 2 was to get that RS mini speaker and mount that so its facing me. Currently the speaker is behind the center console on the back seat floor facing upwards.

I have one of the Motorola amplified speakers that requires 12 VDC, and it is far superior to the Radio Shack version. The audio quality, clarity and to say nothing of the presence is amazing. Trust me, I would go with the Motorola any day!

John - i have been playing around with a Moto HSN-1000 amplified speaker and its real great. If you can get your hands on one go for it. There are three wires. Blue(audio), Black(gnd) and Red(+12VDC). Good hunting...
