• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

We have seen some changes in Arizona and California. I know this is not a frequency forum, but from those of you with ICOM, have you herd about AMR moving to NXDN nationally? Did AMR sign a contract with ICOM for hardware. Saw a "Solution" paper for AMR and NXDN in Florida.

I was at IWCE back in 2021 and was looking at some consoles with a consultant I'm using. The radio guy from AMR came up, he knew the consultant.
He really likes NXDN and it is not surprising they are moving to that for their 'company' channels.
Wish I could remember the guys name. I think I had his card somewhere.

The contact I have last told me AMR rather GMR now whatever tbey decide to be was going to implement a in network LTE and NXDN country system through self and various vendors or dealers. Some would be installing these consoles at local psaps others in smaller areas the rigs and persons have the equipment for nxdn and local channels with rig having a separate radio possibly for locals. Ymmv they have a few setups they were considering. I know the portables will be based on the area they are in so if locals use p25 they'd more than likely have kenwoods with p25 nxdn enabled. Ymmv. I do know they wanted to grt all their paging onto this network and don't want local cops to fire hearing it. Think legal stand points of a corporation. So yes secure methods would inevitably be enabled on their system.

All the local AMR folks I deal with still use their own system for admin and such. Some are on the P25 but some just have dispatch on the local system and AMR dispatch coordinates.

Does AMR have control of what system they on? or is it up to local ems agency how they lay out the contract?
Even if a local contract was wanted them on their system AMR could easily find faults and violations on.most your local small time agencies who either have expired licenses, dead zones, other secure methods unavailable. Once you get legal sharks involved this tends to change things. None the less AMR is a contractor. Not part of your local gov. They more than likely would install a console in a dispatch which some are doing so only the local psap has access on duty and the AMR staff. They could care less what locals are doing in a corporate stand point. The new thing again is use dispatch not scanning others to know a scene is clear. They have to wait until dispatch gives all clear anyway so. There is a handful of places which already are using this system in NM and the AMR cannot hear locals anymore. Some being part of vfds carry their county radio on them but unless they are that the rest its this new system.

AMR and Monroe ambulance are both on Monroe County's P25/2 system with a total of around a dozen TG's.

AMR in Indianapolis is still on the ERS Wireless TRBO Connect+ as far as I know. Haven't heard of any changes around here

It's the other way around too. AMR has unlicensed or improprerly licensed stations in my area.
