Just left the scene of it. Had to wait around forever for the officer to get my statement. Auto-ped on the NW 63rd off ramp from Hefner Parkway southbound.

Nasty ****.

The 30 was a culminating event last night. Well, there was one other call, but it was fun and retribution. There are only so many times you can deal with a drunk that won't answer his door after leaving his $3000 stereo system bassing all over the damn neighborhood!

If I hadn't heard that you are such a fine upstanding pilar of the community, and the cream of the crap when it comes to security professionals, I may have thought that you just implied that a security guard vandalized (or stole) someone's personal property. :)

older signal 30- Edmond

I was heading south on I-35 at 4:30 a.m. that friday morn. I was listening to my Pro-95 before I left Guthrie to head down to the city, so I knew there was something going on under the Danforth Street bridge that crosses over I-35...Edmond P.D. and F.D. and Emsa...alll seemed a little confused. when I arrived on the scene is was unbelievably lit up by lights from Hollywood.....you could see 2 bodies laying on the ground.....after keeping the southbound lanes shut down for at least 4 hours, the conclusion was that 2 pickup trucks heading south that morning side swiped each other, both trucks pulled over, a man out of one...a woman out of the other.....they both were OK !!! the man noticed that some tools had fallen out of his pickup...and yes he went out onto I-35 at about 4:30 a.m. to recieve a screwdriver and who knows what else......coming down the hi-way at 70 m.p.h. is a white suburban,....that sees only flashing lights on the side of the road.....the suburban hits the man knocking him into the air and killing him instantly....the lady who was just talking to this man, could not believe what had just happened ...and had a massive heart attack and died right there on the side of the road in Edmond, on I-35 and Danforth!!! My scanner was going crazy on Edmonds trunked system....still I don't believe I picked up all that I could have!!! I can pick up all the way to Moore, and Midwest City, OKC and Bethany, I am having a hard time with OHP freq. and setups maybe I have the wrong freq. #s ...any suggestions besides shorter stories next time???? I also was listening the night the OKC PD Officer got killed in his cruiser chasing that stolen motorcycle....thats sobering to hear a voice on the radio and then it is gone for ever....and you hear others trying to raise that voice...car 54 were are you???? ok sorry-sorry...anyway -if there is anything on Highway Patrol DPS smokie bear yaddi-yaddi-yaddi ....that might enlighten my scanner and me, please let me know. Thank you ....your time is well appreciated

Oh, the flattery. I am humbled.

You need to learn the difference between a security guard and a security officer.

You have no idea how spooky that entire situation really was.
Glad to know that someone else heard John being the truly awesome cop that he was in his last moments. It is a testament to his bravery and self-sacrifice as an officer. We were all blessed to have him in our city.

Probably because the drunk knows the difference between an officer of the law and Johnny law wanna be? Do you honestly think he cares that you show up at his door? He is laughing his drunk ass back the stereo and turning it up louder! Maybye you should have gone the academy after all?

Wow...from left field. "Johnny law wanna be"? =') I can sign a ticket as easily as a "officer of the law". The difference is that when it goes to court (once in maybe 5 years) I get paid $40 and hour. So that is fine with me.

Yeah, he does care. Nobody likes to be evicted. However, I am sure he was laughing his ass off from the 3rd floor while we stood in the parking lot listening to his bass. Then all of a sudden, he was handed a notice of lease termination. Then he doens't leave and they go to court, and the apartment wins. They always win. Then he decides he doesn't have to leave. He paid good money for that system and he should be able to have it up loud enough to suit his desires right? Then the sheriff comes out and locks his apartment and he can't get his stuff anymore. Then he gets caught by a security officer kicking the door in because that is his stuff by God! Then he goes to jail.

Now he lost his job, his semi that he takes up 18 spots with, and he is hitching a ride to Tulsa to beg you for money.

Maybe the security officer should have gone over there and shut his power off and turned it back on. So that 15 other apartments could get some sleep. Maybe he should have walked off with his tail between his legs?

Not sure if you have ever lived in an apartment complex that gives a damn, but if you turn your music up and annoy your neighbors, you get a notice. You get three, you get evicted. I bet though, that you respect "officer of the law" huh? What difference does it make? Police officer or security officer, if they don't want to answer the door they don't have too. Nothing can be done about it by the police. Can't write a ticket. Can't kick the door in. If you were the neighbor, what kind of mood would you be in? Probably be talking to management the next day right? Now remember, you are in a property that gives a damn. They ask you, did you call security? Why not? Sir, I am sorry you think security can't do anything, but had they come out to verify this we could have evicted him. You will have to just continue to live with the noise until you get off your high horse and call "johnny law wanna be".

Or maybe, like most people that talk so much crap about security you got put in your place once before by a security officer? Maybe that is why you have a bad taste in your mouth? Dumb old "johnny law wanna be" can't talk to me like that. I don't give a damn what he says. He says something else to me and I will report him to CLEET. I am going to call and make a complaint. Hell, I might kick his ass. He can't tell me to leave, I am a paying customer.

LMAO. Whatever. Just shows the amount of respect you have for people doing their job correctly by the post you made. I still have a smile on my face from the "johnny law wanna be". I am going to make a new name tag tomorrow! That way, there will be no confusion when I knock on someone's door to ask them nicely to turn the music down.

P.S. By the way. This tenant received his 3rd notice for violation of lease agreement, and was served the notice of lease termination by me the following Monday morning.

Pretty simple really. The guard is the guy stuck in the back room watching security cameras. The officer is the one that looks professional, the on that shows respect and does his job correctly, and knows the boundaries.

I am sure you have seen the difference.

I was thinking, maybe I should have done what was done to a friend of mine. Research this one if you want. About 5 years ago at 7201 on NW 122nd in OKC. "Johnny law wanna be" goes to an apartment because of complaints of a loud party with people walking around drunk and being extrmely loud. He shows up, knocks on the door, and asks the tenant to please keep it down as the neighbors are complaining. Tenant says "f*ck you rent-a-cop" and punches the "johnny law wanna be" in the face? Less than 5 seconds later, my friend's husband is dead on the ground with 5 shots to the chest.

Care to critique that one?

Punched in the face=shoot the guy 5 times? Either you're leaving out something like continued battery after the punch, or "johnny law wanna be" commited a far worse crime than punching someone.

not necessarily, see Okalhoma Title 21 O.S. § 1289.25D:

"A person who is not engaged in an unlawful activity and who is attacked in any other place where he or she has a right to be has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force, if he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony."

Beer bottle in left hand. One swing, knocked out two teeth on "johnny law wanna be". He steps back a two feet and pops off five rounds.

Lot of things wrong with this situation, but that isn't the point. It has "deeper" meaning.

Excellent research. I can tell you are getting ready.
