I see Anne Arundel County, Md. is accepting applications for Fire Communications Operator I. I have experience and am thinking about applying. The 24/72 schedule is very interesting. Does anybody have any information on how it is to work there? How many people are assigned to a shift? I appreciate any insight.

There is about 10 people in there at a time. 24 hours incudes breaks throuout the day and a 4 hour rest at night. There is a bunk room and kitchen. If you call the recruiter he could give you a tour.

Thanks for the reply, I think I will see about a tour.

Are all of the Dispatchers civilian or a combination of uniformed Firefighters and civilian?

If the shifts are a combination of both civilian and uniformed firefighters does anybody know the number breakdown?

The reason I ask is to see if there is potential for career advancement opportunities.

There are FCO 1 - 3 ranks for civilians. The uniformed staff are the Lt. Supervisors (2 per shift) and 1 Captain. There are some uniformed firefighters previously cleared to work in there for overtime.

Did you apply?
Good morning,

Yes I did apply. The Criticall test is really throwing me for a loop. I have not been successful the first 3 tries. I have one last opportunity I am going to take this weekend. What is puzzling to me is I currently work as an Emergency Dispatcher at rather busy agency so I have quite a few years of experience that I thought would benefit me.

I am following the Criticall instructions exactly as they are laid out for each section. One thing I am going to try is taking this last Criticall attempt on Google Chrome instead of Microsoft Edge, hopefully it will make a difference.
