ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK (AP) - A helicopter from Fort Collins is being brought in to help find a Virginia man missing in Rocky Mountain National Park.
Authorities say 61-year-old Brandt Everhart of Suffolk, Virginia was last seen about 9 a.m. Wednesday as he and a hiking partner separated to take different trails.
Park spokeswoman Kyle Patterson says the pair's plans included hiking on Mount Lady Washington, which features "extremely difficult" terrain.
The partner notified park staff about 8:45 Wednesday night that Everhart had not made it back to the Longs Peak trailhead as expected.
Patterson says he was wearing a fleece jacket and shorts, and had a rain jacket, map and guidebook. He was described as "moderately experienced," but not prepared to spend the night in the backcountry.
