Exactly what Diamond antenna? Do you mean on the radio or a rooftop antenna with coax and a pl259 connector where you would need this adapter.

If you're going to buy a better aftermarket antenna that covers the same range as the OG antenna that you are going to place directly on the radio you'll want to pick something that already is a BNC connection. You don't want an antenna that's going to need adapters on a portable, that's asking for trouble if the scanner falls the wrong way.. and you don't need all that hardware on your BNC connection.

Over the years I've tried all kinds of antennas. But I have finally settled on one that I've had for many years as a general coverage antenna that I use on my sds100, the problem is I don't know if you're going to be able to find it in stock anywhere, it used to be sold by Scanner Master but many of their on the radio portable antennas are out of stock but if you can find a Wilson w-108 with a BNC connector, I highly recommend it. As I say it is out of stock at Scanner Master but just do a Google search.

It's not a good idea to have a large, heavy adapter connected directly to your scanner. If using a handheld scanner, you could use an adapter that adapts your native connection to a BNC female. This would allow you to use any antenna (or cable) that terminates in a BNC male.
If your goal is to use an outside or mobile antenna, you could use a "pigtail" adapter that converts your native connection to a short cable terminated with a connector that mates with the incoming antenna cable (often a PL259).
Either of these methods will help to prevent putting undue stress on your scanner's fragile antenna connector.

Which is exactly the same thing I said, I double checked that my post did go through LOL, exact advice that I gave except I wouldn't necessarily use a pigtail if you're going to use a pl-259 in a mobile or rooftop application, I would use the adapter shown above. It's only one piece of hardware but you still have to be careful. Multiple adapters attached to each other as you were referring to on a portable BNC connection is not a good idea as I have already posted.

When I use my sds100 in the car paired with my Larson tri-band I simply use the adapter above. Just be careful.

As far as your native connection on your radio it is a BNC connector as I said in my post and as I recommended, you need to get an antenna that has a BNC connection if you're going to attach it to your radio.

Sometimes I think my posts just don't go through 😆😆😆 or I guess people post in a thread without reading any of the other posts already in the thread. Whatever.

Good luck op with whatever choice you make, maybe let us know what you ended up doing.
