Good afternoon & Happy Easter to all

I have a SDS 200 in my office & I was wondering if there are any reputable licensed & insured installers in the Manchester CT area, I'm aware of Marcus communications but they are commercial obviously, Might they do a residential installation??

My house is a cape & I'm too old to climb on it lol

Also what would the best antenna be for my SDS 200, I listen 2 CSP, TN/WW & local PD'S & with a outdoor antenna, I would likely hear city of Htfd & more

TIA for all the replies/suggestions

Hi
I purchased a very small magnet mount from Amazon. I stuck it to my Air conditioner. I hear everything in the Hartford area. No need for a roof mount at all. I have outside Ham antennas but this works amazing for a home base scanner.

You could try calling them. Even though you might not be in their industry preference, I'll bet you'd get a ham in there that might say 'hey, I know someone who does this on the side'. Try calling Utility down in Hamden, as well.

My best guess is that someone there might some someone who does that, a referral like that can go far.

Dibiasi a great idea,I have a old car Mag mount antenna mounted on a soup can in my office hidden by a large clock/weather station, It works great but I'm looking 2 expand my listening 2 the city & CLMRN can b a bit sketchy in my area

Also I have the notch rocks in my way, But when the leaves r down I can see the box mountain antennas out of my back deck

I will likely send Marcus a Email & see what happens, I doubt that Utility would come up this far

If you do all the prepping on the antenna, mount and coax, call around to local roofing contractors.

Can you please tell me the name, model number, etc. for the antenna. I have a SDS200 that does NOT receive Hartford which is only 12 miles away but Hartford comes in load & clear on my BC 780xlt which sits next to my 200.

You should be able to receive that with the stock telescoping whip antenna on the back of the scanner unless you have some major obstacles between you and them like trees, tall buildings, ETC. What are you trying to monitor in Hartford?

12 miles but the topography of Bloomfield in between.

Your 780XLT is listening to 154.310 right? That signal travels for dozens of miles in all directions, which system in the 064 are you trying to get with the SDS? The simulcast on .310, HartLink (ha.) or CLMRN?

I receive Hartford fine on my sds100 and sds200. the simulcast works fine in Bloomfield. I'm again the mountain so I dont always get Avon or Simsbury but get most towns I believe. Older models do better for analog.
